Suncoast Archaeological Consultants, Inc. is a Florida based cultural resource management company that specializes in serving both private sector and government agencies throughout the Southeastern United States. We have conducted hundreds of archaeological and historical assessment surveys and are proud of our reputation for quality management, mitigation, and preservation of our nation's historic resources.

Becks Lake Development, Escambia County, Florida

Cultural Resource Survey of a proposed 427 acre residential development just north of Pensacola, Florida. The project resulted in the discovery of the remains of a Second Spanish Period water-powered sawmill. One of the oldest sawmill sites yet discovered in Florida. A conservation plan was created by Suncoast so that development of the property could move forward without adversely impacting the mill site.

Old Polk City Road, Polk County, Florida

Archaeological and Historic Architectural Survey along approximately three miles of Old Polk City Road located to the north of Lakeland, Florida. The project included the identification and mitigation of impact to numerous archaeological sites and historic structures located within the proposed projects Area of Potential Effect (APE).

Heart Island Equestrian Estates, Volusia County, Florida

Archaeological Survey of an 820 acre proposed mixed-use property west of Daytona Beach, Florida. Project plans proceeded on schedule with Suncoasts assistance in coordination between the St. Johns River Water Management District and the Florida Division of Historical Resources.

Zephyrhills Phosphate Mine, Pasco County, Florida

Cultural Resource Assessment Survey of a 766 acre mine expansion project located to the south of Zephyrhills, Florida. The project resulted in the discovery of twelve prehistoric archaeological sites and the remains of an early 20th century phosphate hand-mine located directly adjacent to the Hillsborough River floodplain. This information aided in the identification of appropriate conservation easement boundaries that would satisfy both county and state regulators and thus securing permits for the proposed mine expansion activities.

Tramonto Estates, Polk County, Florida

Archaeological Survey of a 1,840 acre mixed-use development located in northern Polk County near the I-75 / US 27 intersection. As a result of an extensive land-use history investigation and Suncoasts consultations with the Southwest Florida Water Management District the project plan was approved without delay and without the need of additional time consuming and expensive cultural resource investigations.

Wild Turkey Strand Preserve, Lee County, Florida

Historic Land Use Study for Lee County Parks and Recreations of a World War II period training facility associated with the Buckingham Army Air Field. Flexible gunnery ranges as well as numerous storage facilities and small ordinance ranges were recorded as part of this project. Suncoast provided Lee County with recommendations for preservation of these historic resources and aided in the development of a public access and historic interpretive program.

Soho Apartments, Alachua County, Florida

Archaeological Monitoring during construction operations associated with a large apartment complex located in Gainesville, Florida. Archaeologically sensitive areas were identified and in-field mitigation techniques were employed to help avoid extensive adverse impact to known archaeological sites.
